Destiny developer Bungie has closed all locations of its office to protect employees against the corona virus. It is not just about the Seattle headquarters, where the virus was recently discovered, but all the developer’s locations. The company announced this through its blog.
This should not have too much impact on games like Destiny 2: the plan is to give developers the opportunity to work at home. “Health and safety are our top priority, but it is also important that we continue our usual work. That is why we have built an infrastructure that makes it possible to work from a remote location.”
However, according to the blog post it is possible that this decision will affect the release schedule of upcoming patches in Destiny 2. The intention is that Season of the Worth will appear on March 10 and Trials of Osiris will be available on March 13.
The coronavirus affects all facets of global society. The game industry is also affected. For example, various scholarships have already been canceled and there are shortages of Switch consoles in Japan.
Actually I am glad that they are taking what they need to make sure people don’t get hurt. Yes they are closing the offices but at the same time they are trying to set up working at home. I think they are doing an amazing thing with the CoronaVirus.
If you’re more worried about a DLC release than human lives, you might be a terrible person. Good on Bungie for putting their employees first!
Comments like that one just go to prove the biggest cause of a virus spreading is stupidity! Well done Bungie in looking after your staffs health and well being. I applaud you for it
I’m glad Bungie are taking time to put their people first! We should see more of this! Some will say it’s an excuse however some people are affected by viruses and illnesses alike much more! Keep up the good work bungie!
“That is why we have built an infrastructure that makes it possible to work from a remote location.”
They’re still working.
