Blizzard has announced Diablo 4. The developer has shown an extensive trailer in which a dark and terrifying game can be seen. The company also shows some gameplay images. It is not yet known when the game will be released.
During Blizzcon, Blizzard showed a cinematic trailer of almost 10 minutes. It shows the return of Lilith, the Daughter of Hatred. She also played a role in the Pandemonium Event from Diablo 2. According to Blizzard, Diablo 4 goes back to the dark origins of the series. According to Blizzard, the game contains horror elements, and must become ‘dirtier’ and more ‘gothic’.
Diablo 4 gets a co-op mode, in which players can explore the game world together. They can also trade in-game items or compete with each other in a PvP zone. Three classes have been announced for the game; gamers can play the game as a barbarian, sorcerer, or druid. The game draws inspiration from the art style of Diablo 2, and builds on the fighting mechanisms from part 3. The game, like its predecessors, becomes an action rpg.
During the presentation, Blizzard also apologized for banning a Hearthstone player who was critical of the Chinese government. The company’s CEO, J. Allen Brack, did not specifically mention the incident, but said the developer “had the opportunity to bring the community together during a Hearthstone tournament, but failed.” Blizzard promises to ‘be better’ in the future.
There have been rumors for a long time about the announcement of Diablo 4. Recently, details of the game leaked out on Reddit. The Reddit user already spoke of a ‘more dark and dirty Diablo game’. Diablo 4 comes out for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Nothing is said about next-gen consoles. It is also not clear when the game will be released.
