Junkertown Brings Overwatch Down Under
New content for Overwatch just keeps coming. Currently the Summer Games are still going on, Doomfist has been playable for a few weeks and Team Deathmatch and Free-for-All are already being worked on. In addition to all this goodness, Blizzard announced something new again on Gamescom, which is a brand new map called: Junkertown.
As the name suggests, Junkertown is the city where our Australian friends Junkrat and Roadhog come from. The map is specially designed for the Escort game mode and it is intended to guide a payload full of explosives to its destination. Of course, Blizzard knows the map folder a lot better:
“Junkertown is an Escort map located in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback. Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it’s now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen. When they aren’t pillaging the omnium’s skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches…and to survive.”
It is not yet known when we can all play on Junkertown, but Gamescom’s visitors already had the chance to play on the new map. Missed out on the event? Blizzard dropped a load of screenshots and two trailers for you to celebrate the announcement of Junkertown.
