Microsoft and Xbox may seem to have the upper hand for the time being, but Sony proves they have one more trick up their sleeve. Just when you thought Microsoft was the clear winner in this next gen debacle, a patent from Sony Interactive Entertainment details the release of a console in the future with TWO graphics cards. The proposal details on a “scalable gaming console” that’s intended for usage in “home console and cloud gaming”.
The official Sony patent notes that, ‘plural SoCs may be used to provide a “high-end” version of the console with greater processing and storage capability’, while ‘the “high end” system can also contain more memory such as random-access memory (RAM) and other features and may also be used for a cloud-optimized version using the same game console chip with more performance.’
On the other hand , the cloud gaming feature magnifies and focuses more on the digital version of the next-gen unit. Of course, it also takes the heavily rumoured PSP 5G in tow. It makes sure to clear all possible sites of disadvantage towards Microsoft, hardly focusing on things that will surely get the Xbox beat. These all can be promises just for now, but we can’t wait to see it get to fruition.
