Valorant Patch 0.50 targets Sage and Economy

The new patch arrived on Tuesday and Riot has chosen to nerf some agents and make changes to the economy. Sage has received a significant nerf on her slow orb that changes the duration on the slow from 9 seconds to 7 seconds. The slow amount was also decreased from 65% to 50% which has affected her ability to stall big times.

There were also nerfs to Cypher whereas his cage no longer slows enemies and his camera has an increased cooldown when destroyed (30s to 45s). The community has also helped Riot to remove many of the “stupidly overpowered” camera locations from all of the maps.

In addition to these nerfs, there were also adjustments to ability costs across five of the agents.

  • Sage Barrier Orb increased from 300 to 400 credits
  • Raze Blast Pack increased from 100 to 200 credits
  • Phoenix Curveball increased from 100 to 200 credits
  • Brimstone’s Incendiary increased from 200 to 300 credits
  • Jett’s Updraft reduced from 200 to 100 credits

This one really hurts Phoenix a lot since his Curveball (Q) is already inferior to breach’s Flashpoint (Q) at the same cost.

The economy has also gotten quite the change when the max credit cap was reduced from 12,000 to 9,000. This has a big impact in many areas such as maintaining an economic lead. It is also a bigger economic risk to pick up the Operator since a full buy (with full armor and abilities) will cost two-thirds of your max credit cap (~6,000). Riot has also made changes to weapons, maps, and some of the other agents.
